The 2023 Rugby World Cup is now just a matter of weeks away, and we can’t help but be excited for rugby’s showpiece event.
The squads are picked, the warm-ups are over, and all that’s left now is the main event. France 2023 promises to be one of the greatest World Cups in history – all that’s left is to crown a winner.
The Springboks come into this year’s tournament as holders, but it’s Ireland who arrived as favourites, according to stat masters Opta, who have updated their tournament predictor.
They have once again simulated the tournament 10 million times, with Ireland coming in as slight favourites with a 21.7% probability of winning, closely followed by France at 21.4%.
The Boks round off the top 3 at 20.5% probability with the All Blacks also in with a good chance according to Opta with a 20.2% probability.
