Update.
Ireland back-rower Jack Conan suffered a worrying foot injury in Ireland’s win over Italy at the weekend with the Leinster star seen in a protective boot after being forced off early on in the first half.
Simon Easterby was up for media duties today and offered a worrying update on Conan, with the 31-year-old forced to stay home and miss Ireland’s training camp in Portugal to rehab and assess the full extent of his injury.
The Irish coaching team are hoping to get an update on Conan next week, but his absence from the camp is certainly an ominous one.
“The only person that hasn’t travelled with us from the squad is Jack Conan,” Easterby said.
“He’s stayed behind just to rehab and we hope to get more information on his injury next week.
“We’re still waiting on assessment and we decided that it would probably be best for him to stay back in Dublin.”
Craig Casey and Jimmy O’Brien were both also forced off against Italy but both players are confirmed to be fit and ready, with Easterby noting Ireland have a full clean bill of health outside of Conan.
