France head coach Fabien Galthie has launched a scathing attack on Wales’ players – accusing them of trying to get their players sent off following Les Blues’ stunning last-minute win last night.

Wales were cruelly denied a Grand Slam in Paris following a dramatic 32-30 with France now in a position to win the Six Nations next week with the right result against Scotland.

France had lock Paul Willemse red-carded in the latter stages of the match after he made contact with the eye area of Wyn Jones but Galthie does not think the red was justified.

Galthie reckons the actions of the Wales players forced the officials to make the call.

“I don’t think he deserves a heavy sanction,” Galthie said after the game.

“If you watch it there is clearly no contact, or if there is it’s clearly very limited. It’s absolutely not voluntary.

“You see the way the Welsh are specialists in red cards, and can specialise in opposition red cards.

“They play their part. The Welsh body language. I hope the officials decide that this sanction is not necessary for Paul Willemse.

“I don’t think Paul deserves a sanction.

“I believe we need to share this – I don’t see why he should be sanctioned.”

When asked about Galthie’s comments, Wales head coach Wayne Pivac opted not to respond directly to the huge accusations.
