It was a Halloween nightmare for Ireland in Paris last night as they fell to 35-27 defeat at the hands of an impressive France side to award the title to England.

The men in green knew they need a try and a six-point margin victory to claim the title and for a brief moment it looked like Farrell’s side were more than capable of doing it.

But a complete and utter second-half capitulation ended all hopes.

If you had money on Ireland to win the Six Nations, next time you use betting sites Ireland, put your money on anyone but Ireland to win the Autumn Nations Cup.

A really poor day at the office for the Ulsterman. Was at fault for the opening try, made a mistake that led to the penalty try, dropped countless balls, the list goes on. Perhaps an immediate switch back to the wing is on the cards, or maybe some time out of the team until he can get his confidence back.

Andrew Conway 5

Some shaky moments but did his job the best of his abilities.

Robbie Henshaw 7

Solid in defence and scored a wonder try that for a few brief moments gave us a glint of hope.

Bundee Aki 6

Solid defensively for large parts of the game but didn’t get too many opportunities in the game. Perhaps should have stayed on for longer.

Hugo Keenan 5

Didn’t see much of the ball but should have had a stone-cold penalty try.

Johnny Sexton 5.5

Should have taken the points on more than one occasion but put some lovely kicks through and controlled the pace well in the first-half Replaced after 69 minutes and really let himself down with his reaction.

Conor Murray 6

Heaped lots of pressure on the French and looked to cause problems. One of Ireland’s better players.

Cian Healy 6

Excellent try on his 100th cap. Solid scrum too.

Rob Herring 4

Disastrous lineout all day. Not quite up to this level.

Andrew Porter 6

One of Ireland’s better players. Let down by his teammates when he was the only man chasing back for two of France’s tries, despite being a 21 stone tighthead.

Tadhg Beirne 5

Won some big penalties as per usual but struggled to make an impact other than that.

James Ryan 7

Big performance from the second-row. Left everything out there.

Caelan Doris 6

Sin-binned late in the first-half and cost his team a penalty try but wasn’t a fault in the build-up.

Will Connors 5

A tough second outing for the youngster.

CJ Stander 7

Probably Ireland’s best player. Carried hard, tackled everything, scrambled as best he could.
