New Zealand and Australia couldn’t be separated on Sunday morning with the first game in their Bledisloe Cup series finishing 16-16 following an incredible Test match.

Jordie Barrett and Aaron Smith scored tries for the home side with Koroibete and Daugunu touching down for the Wallabies in what was the first game of the year for both side and the first game in charge for both Ian Foster (New Zealand) and Dave Rennie (Australia).

But it’s the All Blacks who should consider themselves lucky to have come away with a draw following a number of infringements in the final minutes as the game continued 10 minutes after the final hooter.

There was arguably an immediate knock-on as the hosts failed to gather the ball off the rebound, then a number of questionable ruck infringements that weren’t blown.

Both teams traded possession in a manic period, with neither side going for a drop goal but despite some controversial All Blacks ‘dark arts’ you can’t help but applaud this incredible bit of play from Ardie Savea to win back possession as the Wallabies pounded on New Zealand’s defence.

Clearly injured Savea limps to the breakdown, gets in low and rips the ball back for his team. An absolute warrior of the highest order.

We still reckon Australia were robbed and should have been celebrating a famous win but that’s just incredible from Savea.
