Chaos.
The final round of the regular Premiership rugby season has been thrown into absolute chaos after an outbreak of COVID-19 amongst the players at Sale Sharks, according to Nik Simon writing for Sportsmail.
Steve Diamond’s side need a win this weekend to secure a place in the play-offs but their crucial final-round match with Worcester Warriors could now be cancelled after a ‘double-figure number’ of positive tests.
Premiership Rugby announced on Friday morning that team announcements have been delayed and officials are now scrambling to find a solution.
Everything was all set up for a grandstand finish, with Sale, Bristol, Wasps Bath all vying for the three remaining play-off places.
PRL have reportedly refused to comment but should the game be cancelled, Bristol will need just one point against London Irish to make the top 4 with Sale’s season potentially finished as a result.
