Outspoken Journalist Stephen Jones Names Laughable List Of World’s Best Tens

Ah, lads.

Outspoken journalist Stephen Jones is back this week with another controversial list – this time looking at the greatest tens of all time.

Last week he and Stuart Barnes compiled a list of the world’s best-ever Test captains, with the Welshman showing his disdain for the All Blacks by leaving out Richie McCaw. And he’s gone down a similar past this week.

For most, Dan Carter is considered one of the very best tens the game has ever seen, with Barnes naming him at the top of his list, as he did with Richie McCaw last week.

But Carter just about makes it onto Jones’ list with the likes of Juan Martín Hernández, Michael Lynagh and Phil Bennett named ahead of him. Incredibly Jones has no fewer than four Welshmen on his list.

Have a look at his list for yourself below (via The Times). He has to be trolling us at this stage. Either that or he’s just completely clueless.

Stuart Barnes’ Top 10 No. 10s: 1 Dan Carter (New Zealand), 2 Phil Bennett (Wales), 3 Mark Ella (Australia), 4 Barry John (Wales), 5 Jonny Wilkinson (England), 6 Jonathan Davies (Wales), 7 Stephen Larkham (Australia), 8 Michael Lynagh (Australia), 9 Ronan O’Gara (Ireland), 10 Grant Fox (New Zealand).

Stephen Jones’ Top 10 No. 10s: 1 David Watkins (Wales), 2 Juan Martín Hernández (Argentina), 3 Jonathan Davies (Wales), 4 John Rutherford (Scotland), 5 Michael Lynagh (Australia), 6 Phil Bennett (Wales), 7 Andrew Mehrtens (New Zealand), 8 Jonny Wilkinson (England), 9 Barry John (Wales), 10 Dan Carter (New Zealand).
