Goodbye?
England and Harlequins prop Joe Marler could be about to quit rugby in a shock move as he continues to ponder his future in the wake of a controversial ban handed down to him this month.
Marler was handed a 10-week ban by a Six Nations disciplinary committee after he was found guilty of an offence following an incident in England’s game against Wales that saw him playfully ‘fondle’ Alun Wyn Jones’ testicles.
The loosehead prop deleted his Twitter account soon after but now the Daily Mail is reporting that Marler is seriously considering quitting the game following the huge amount of backlash he has received over the incident.
According to the paper, Marler’s lockdown with his family has given him time to seriously think about this future in the game.
Marler infamously walked away from England last year only to return for the Rugby World Cup in Japan and has been playing some of his best rugby for his country in recent month.
At just 29 it would be a shock move for Marler who still has plenty of years left under his belt at the highest level.
