Eddie Jones has hit back at Warren Gatland following the Wales boss’ comments yesterday about England perhaps peaking too early ahead of their Rugby World Cup final meeting with South Africa.
England defeated the All Blacks on Saturday in their semi-final clash thanks to an incredible performance on the day, dominating almost every aspect of the game from start to finish.
But despite losing their semi-final clash against South Africa, Wales boss Warren Gatland couldn’t resist a parting shot on England and Jones.
“We have seen in previous World Cups that teams sometimes play their final in semi-finals and don’t always turn up for a final,” Gatland said.
“So it will be interesting to see how England are next week and it could be a good game.”
Gatland’s comments were then put to Eddie Jones who responded in typical fashion.
“You just send my best wishes to Warren to make sure he enjoys the third and fourth place play-off,” Jones said.
We think Eddie won this one. Sorry, Gats.
