Cheeky.
Wales boss Warren Gatland couldn’t resist a cheeky little dig at England following his side’s Rugby World Cup semi-final defeat to South Africa this morning.
England defeated the All Blacks in their semi-final yesterday morning with an incredible performance, setting up a final meeting between Eddie Jones’s side and the Springboks next week.
But Gatland has some doubts about his Six Nations rivals after such an inspiring semi-final. He reckons Jones’ side might have already ‘played their final.’
“We have seen in previous World Cups that teams sometimes play their final in semi-finals and don’t always turn up for a final,” Gatland said.
“So it will be interesting to see how England are next week and it could be a good game.”
A very cheeky remark from the outgoing Welsh boss. We’ll have to wait until next weekend to see if he’s right.
