Red card.
Ireland centre Bundee Aki has just been shown a red card for a high tackle on Samoa’s Alapati Leiua in their Rugby World Cup pool clash.
Referee Nic Berry felt there was not enough of a mitigating factor with Aki’s shoulder making direct contact “with a degree of force” that left Leiua flat out on the turf.
At full speed, it looked like a yellow and no more, but when slowed down it’s hard to see any mitigation. At the same time, Samoa got away with yellow for a similar challenge on Stockdale earlier in the game.
