Cancelled.
England’s Rugby World Cup clash with France in Yokohama on Saturday is off with Super Typhoon Hagibis heading for Japan.
Sportsmail are reporting that for the first time in the 32-year history of the tournament – a fixture will be cancelled.
The game was set to take place at Yokohama Stadium on Saturday evening with Hagibis set to pass through the area during the game, wreaking absolute havoc on everything with wind speeds likely to exceed 160mph.
Both sides have already qualified for the quarter-finals but Saturday’s game was set to decide who tops the pool.
Should the game not go ahead they will each be rewarded 2 points meaning England will win the pool. Both sides would also end up with an enviable break before the knockout stages commence.
Scotland’s game with Japan also takes place in Yokohama one day later. That game also appears to be under threat more with the implications for that match a lot more significant.
If that game doesn’t go ahead – Scotland are out of the World Cup if Ireland win.
