England boss Eddie Jones looks set to leave his co-captain Dylan Hartley out of his Rugby World Cup squad as the hooker continues to struggle with his fitness, according to Sky Sports.
Hartley has been struggling with a knee problem and has not played rugby since December. Owen Farrell has since completely taken over the captaincy and will likely continue to do so in Japan later this year.
Jones will name a 29-man training squad later today with some big names ultimately set to miss out. Joe Marler however, could be named, with the recently retired prop in line for a shock comeback.
