Sorry.
Ireland international Bundee Aki has taken to social media to apologise for “mistakenly” liking Israel Folau’s controversial homophobic post that has ended up costing the Wallaby his job.
Aki follows in the footsteps of the likes of former Munster centre Francis Saili in clearing the air, with the Connacht centre noting Folau’s views do no reflect his.
The 29-year-old says he ‘liked’ the post “without paying any attention to the content” and while he believes in God himself – he believes in a God that loves “all” people.
“I just want to address that I mistakenly liked Israel Folau’s post without paying any attention to the content,” Aki posted on Twitter.
“When I realised what the post was about I immediately unliked it straight away as it does not reflect my views as a Christian.”
“Yes I do believe in God but my belief is that he is a God of kindness, peace and loves people in all aspects.”
“I have family members, friends and I have worked with many people who are gay and I have nothing but love and respect for them.”
“I do want to apologise for any conclusion or offence this may have caused anyone and I will pay more attention to what I ‘like’ in future.”
