Another amazing week of World Cup action. Here are the players that we think stood out above all others over the past week
Forwards
1. Scott Sio (Australia)
Dominated the English pack. Huge game from the Wallaby.
2. Shota Horie (Japan)
13 tackles, 12 carries and 2 turnovers. Nuff said.
3. Sekope Kepu (Australia)
Kepu was pivotal in Australia turning the scrummaging screw on their hosts. Kept Marler very quiet.
4. Iain Henderson (Ireland)
Man of the match versus Italy, Really coming in to his own on the international stage. His first-half performance was especially impressive.
5. Lood de Jager (South Africa)
16 tackles and stole a line-out in a man of the match performance.
6. Peter O’Mahony (Ireland)
Scott Fardy is unlucky to lose out here but that tackle sent Ireland into the quarter final.
7. Michael Hooper (Australia)
Simon Favaro is unlucky to lose out here and despite earning a yellow card for a silly clean out on Mike Brown he was instrumental in Australia’s dismantling of England.
8. David Pocock (Australia)
Continues his amazing comeback. The best back-row forward in the world at the moment.

Backs
15. Ayumu Goromaru (Japan)
Continues his amazing tournament. Our shout for surprise player of the tournament. Kicked 16 points helped create the Japanese try, made 13 carries and even turned the Samoans over… twice.
14. JP Pietersen (South Africa)
Signs of the JP Pietersen of old continue. Still only 29 years of age. He was too much for the Scots to handle.
13. Keith Earls (Ireland)
A shining light in an otherwise average performance from the Irish. His try made him Ireland’s all-time Rugby World Cup leading try scorer.
12. Matt Giteau (Australia)
Michael Cheika changed Australian selection policy for this man and his decision is paying off. Rounded off a great game by scoring a fine try in the corner.
11. Julian Savea (New Zealand)
35 tries in 38 tests. Phenomenal stats. A hat-trick last week adds to two tries the week before. Our bet for top try-scorer at the World Cup.
10. Bernard Foley (Australia)
2 tries and a further 18 points from the boot. Picked apart the English back-line.
9. Will Genia (Australia)
Looks to be getting back to his best following a long lay-off. Huge game against the English, was instrumental in his play.
