Not good.

It looks like Joey Carbery’s hamstring injury is much worse than initially feared, with the Irish Independent reporting he will miss Ireland’s remaining two Six Nations fixtures against France and Wales.

And to make matters even worse – it looks like he’s going to be a major doubt for Munster’s crucial Champions Cup quarter final clash with Edinburgh in Murrayfield next month.

Munster head coach Johann van Graan was unsure of the extent of the problem earlier this week, but was hopeful we would see Carbery in the Six Nations again this year. But it appears now that won’t be the case.

“It is a bit early to say. It’s a hamstring injury and it takes a bit of time to settle. Obviously for us it’s a worry that he is hurt.” van Graan said

“He is one of our best players and we would love to have him for that game but that is still a very long way down the road. Hopefully he will be back for Ireland against Wales or against the French.”

Ireland have decided not to release Jack Carty back to Connacht this week as a result of Carbery’s injury.
