Bizarre.
Joe Schmidt named his Ireland team earlier on today, making a host of changes for their Six Nations trip to Rome where they’ll take on Conor O’Shea’s Italy.
The likes of Dave Kilcoyne, Sean Cronin, Jordi Murphy and Ultan Dillane make their first starts of the championship, while guys like Andrew Conway, Jack Carty and Niall Scannell make the matchday squad for the game for the first time.
But there’s no room for Jordan Larmour who many expected would start against Italy. The Leinster prodigy scored a hat-trick the last time he played the Azzurri back in November over in Chicago.
Larmour’s omission was out of his hands though. Actually that’s perhaps the wrong phase to use considering the youngster will miss the game because he caught his finger in some fabric!
“He [Larmour] will definitely be fit next time, next week.” Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt said.
“He just hurt his finger, it just got caught in the fabric so we just decided that we would leave him until the next match. He is certainly very fit. The training metres that he covers are exceptional.”
Who knew fabric could be so deadly?
