South Africa centre Jaco Taute looks set to leave Munster at the end of the season for Leicester Tigers on a two-year deal according to a report by The42.ie.

The former Springbok was signed by Rassie Erasmus back in 2016 initially on a short-term deal and made an instant impression. Munster were then granted an extension of his contract by the IRFU until the end of that season, before his deal was made permanent with a two-year contract in 2017.

But his first full season with Munster was marred by injury, with the powerful centre missing most of last season’s campaign after picking up a horrific knee injury.

And this season has been much better, with Taute picking up a number of niggles leading to him dropping down the pecking order behind the likes of Dan Goggin, Rory Scannell, Sam Arnold and Chris Farrell.

With his contract now set to expire in the summer it looks like the Gallagher Premiership will be his next stop as Leicester look to bolster their centre stocks ahead of Matt Toomua’s departure.
