Ireland have been handed a World Rugby Rankings boost following their 16-9 win over New Zealand at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday night.
An incredible defensive display from the men in green kept the world champions try-less for the first time since the second Lions Test in 2017, and become the first northern hemisphere team excluding the touring side to do so since 1995.
Ireland’s first ever home win against the All Blacks means they gain additional 1.05 points., while New Zealand have lost 1.04 points as a result of the defeat.
Ireland’s total now stands at 91.17 points – only 1.37 points behind the All Blacks, who celebrated an unbroken nine-year reign as the world’s highest ranked team last Friday.
