Sh*t happens.
Bath fullback Freddie Burns has posted a classy statement on Twitter following his horror moment in yesterday’s Champions Cup defeat to Toulouse at the Rec.
The Englishman scuppered a certain try in the final moments of the game with Bath trailing by two points after he celebrated a little too early following an excellent break for the line.
His error proved to be costly with Bath losing the game, but Burns has owned up to his mistake like a true professional, apologising to his teammates and Bath’s fans.
Love this sport for the highs and the lows. Today was an ultimate low and a mistake I’ll learn from. I’ll continue to give my best as I always do. Lastly just apologies to the boys and the supporters for the mistake. I’ll bounce back… thanks for the support

Feeling for my boy @FreddieBurns right now. Not many people in the world will understand the feeling of jubilation you get when you make a break and are clean through to score the winner and even fewer will understand the feeling of pain he’s got right now. Chin up fella big love
