Stuck in.
Irishman JP Doyle has been universally praised for this pretty remarkable bit of refereeing in the Leicester Tigers vs Northampton Saints game at Twickenham yesterday.
Northampton, who dedicated yesterday’s game to former player Rob Horne after his devastating career-ending injury, bagged the first game of the game – but they couldn’t have done it without some help from Doyle.
Saints back-rower Jamie Gibson made a drive towards the line, touching the ball down for a score, but was instantly swarmed by a ton of Tigers defenders making it ‘almost’ impossible to see a grounding.
We say ‘almost’ because Doyle went above and beyond, or should we say ‘below and beyond’, diving head first into the ruck to spot the grounding and award the try. Superb stuff.
JP Doyle that is QUALITY 😂👏
He awards the try by digging his head into a crowd of players.
Brilliant refereeing! pic.twitter.com/csq2FYr4x4
