Not again.
Leinster’s 2018.18 campaign could once again be complicated with news emerging that scrumhalf Nick McCarthy has suffered a training ground injury.
McCarthy broke his wrist according to a report by The42, which could see him face a spell on the sidelines. The report states he was able to train with a support, but the full extent of the problem is yet to be revealed.
The absence of McCarthy would mean Jamison Gibson-Park would have to be in the matchday squad, unless Leinster want to delve into their academy prospects.
With Gibson-Park taking up a non-European spot in the team (only applicable to Australia and New Zealand players), only one of James Lowe and Scott Fardy can join him. Joe Tomane is exempt due to him holding a Samoan passport.
Leinster had a similar problem last season when Luke McGrath was out injured, with Lowe the one to lose out in the Champions Cup (and again tomorrow). Sean O’Brien’s return however, could mean Fardy missing out going forward, with Toner and Ryan there to cover the second-row.
