Who would have thought it?
David Pocock made his long awaited return to the Test arena during this month’s summer series between Australia and Ireland – and boy did he return with a hell of a bang.
The back-row was one of the players of the series, making an absolute nuisance of himself at times, terrorising Ireland at the breakdown, and playing a key role in their opening Test win.
But it wasn’t to be for Pocock in the end, with Ireland nicking the series. But as we all know at this stage, the Brumbies man is an absolute legend on and off the field. He’s an all-round nice guy, and thoroughly respected in the game.
After the game he shared a photo of himself and Conor Murray catching up – and shared an incredible story of the players as schoolboys.
“In 2005 on the Australian Schoolboys tour of UK and Ireland we were billeted out with families in Limerick.” Pocock wrote
“The family I was billeted with: the Murrays. I don’t think Conor Murray or I were thinking we’d go on to face each other in test rugby. Great to catch up after the game.”
