British Transport Police have revealed that have charged three men aged 22, 25, and 23, from Edinburgh, and a 25-year-old man from South Queensferry, for abusing England coach Eddie Jones on a train from Edinburgh to Manchester.

The four Scottish fans allegedly called the Australian a “balding c**t” as he sat in a standard-class carriage the day after England and Scotland’s Six Nations clash back in February.

They were summed to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court, charged with using threatening or abusive words. And are now expected to appear in court on May 16.

Scottish Rugby released a statement after the confrontation, saying:

“Scottish Rugby is appalled by the verbal abuse suffered by Eddie Jones.

“The disgusting behaviour of those involved does not represent the values of our sport or its fans.

“The dignity Eddie and the England team showed on Saturday is in stark contrast to this ugly incident.”
