“Standing up for the Ulster men.”
A group of 139 people paid for an advertisement in the Belfast Telegraph over the weekend, calling for Stuart Olding and Paddy Jackson to never play for Ireland or Ulster again.
The open letter appeared in Friday’s edition of the newspaper, the same day Ulster took on Edinburgh in the PRO14. It says the content of Olding and Jackson’s social media exchanges was “reprehensible.”
It demanded both players never represent Ireland or Ulster again and says that they “expect an answer” to the letter.
Now another group of concerned Ulster fans on the other side of the fence have responded. The Belfast Telegraph ran a full page ad today paid for by “real fans standing up for the Ulster men”, which calls for both players to be reinstated.
A petition was also set-up over the weekend, which has reached almost 15,000 signatures already. A similar petition was also set-up over two weeks ago, calling for a “full review” of both players.
Legendary Irish rugby player Willie John McBride has also called for the players to be allowed return to work.
