On the mend.
Jordan Larmour is back in full training for Leinster and looks set to return to action this weekend with the eastern province taking on Treviso in the Guinness PRO14.
The talented young utility back will train fully over the coming days, after overcoming a troublesome calf problem. Luke McGrath meanwhile, will not play this weekend, and remains a doubt for Leinster’s crucial Champions Cup semi-final with Scarlets on Saturday week.
The scrumhalf is no longer wearing a protective boot and has upped his rehab. But backs coach Girvan Dempsey hinted he may be held back in order to make sure he’s fully fit for the rest of the season.
Should McGrath be unavailable for the Scarlets tie, either James Lowe or Scott Fardy will have to drop out of the squad to make room for Jamison Gibson-Park.
“Luke is making good progress. He’s out of the boot,” said Dempsey on Monday.
“He’s walking around looking to up his rehab. With some guys it’s more prudent in how you look at your picture in terms if their selection. You just got to make sure your players are hitting their markers, making sure you are not compromising their return and impacting on the end of the season. That’s a case for Luke.
Sean O’Brien is also expected to may his long-awaited return this weekend. The British and Irish Lions back-row has been struggling with a variety of problems since the beginning of December, but finally looks to be back to full fitness.
“I would be hopeful he (O’Brien) would be available for selection for Treviso.” Dempsey added
