Update On Conor Murray’s Fitness Following Worrying Shoulder Injury In Toulon Game

Battered and bruised.

Conor Murray was unable to see out Munster’s miraculous win over Toulon on Saturday, and looked to be in some pain when he was replaced by James Hart with just minutes left to play.

The ever-present nine took a blow to his knee and his ribs, before picking up what appeared to be a nasty stinger on his shoulder. The shoulder injury in particular had a lot of people worried on Saturday, considering how much trouble that caused him this time last year.

Murray picked up a nasty stinger in the 2017 Six Nations against Wales, an injury that saw him miss 10 weeks of action, including Munster’s Champions Cup semi-final clash with Saracens at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

After the game head coach Johann van Graan said Munster will need to re-assess. But thankfully it doesn’t look like anything too serious.

“He’s (Murray) always a worry, he always takes a lot of knocks. He’s bruised up like a lot of guys in the changing-room.” van Graan said

“He took a blow to the knee, one to the ribs and one to the shoulder. We’ll re-assess but at this stage nothing seems too serious.”

The goos news is Murray has since been named in their squad that will travel to South Africa. Fingers crossed, but it looks like he’ll be fine come the weekeend of April 21.

Tommy O’Donnell meanwhile joins Munster’s every-growing list of injuries, after being ruled out for the rest of the season. Simon Zebo will also travel to South Africa after leaving the pitch in tears on Saturday.
