On the move.
Connacht centre Pita Ahki will join French giants Toulouse at the end of the current PRO14 season having spent just five months in the west of Ireland.
Akhi has made seven appearances since arriving from the Hurricanes last October after being recruited by Connacht coach Kieran Keane, whom he worked with at Waikato.
Connacht released the following statement yesterday confirming Ahki’s departure.
“Connacht can confirm that Pita Ahki’s short term contract with the province will come to an end at the end of this season. We would like to thank Pita for his contribution to Connacht during his time here and wish him and his family well for the future,”
Akhi previously had spells in Super Rugby with the Blues and Hurricanes. The 25-year-old will All Black veteran Jerome Kaino in France, with the back-row also set to join Toulouse.
