On the move.
Bath stalwart Matt Banahan is set to depart the Premiership side at the end of the current season in favour of a move to rivals Gloucester, according to a report in The Rugby Paper this morning.
Banahan joined Bath from the London Irish academy in 2006, and is the club’s current longest serving player. He signed a five-year contract back in 2013, but has been unable to agree an extension.
The report suggests he’s been offered similar money to his current deal, and a two-year extension. But Banahan has rejected the deal in favour of a move to Gloucester.
Bristol were also said to be interested in Banahan’s signature, but it appears the Cherry and Whites have won the race.
