On the move.
French giants Clermont Auvergne have announced the signing of exciting utility back Tim Nanai Williams on a three-year contract.
The exciting Samoa international will link up with the Top 14 side from the Chiefs following the conclusion of the 2018 Super Rugby season, signing a deal until June 2021.
Williams has spent the last eight season at the Waikato Chiefs, winning two Super Rugby titles during that period under now Glasgow head coach Dave Rennie..
Clermont Auvergne sports director, Franck Azéma said of the signing,
“This is the first good news in the construction of our workforce in the coming seasons. Tim is a player with a very strong Super Rugby experience with the Chiefs. He also made some havoc with his national team whether at 7 or 15, especially at the last World Cup.
“Like Ice (Isaiah Toeava), he is an extremely technically talented player with very strong support able to play almost every position on the three-quarter line.
We are convinced that this is a player who will surprise in our championship and whose profile perfectly matches the philosophy of game movement that we develop here in Clermont for several seasons. As every time we bring a new player into our squad, the goal is to bring something new, a real plus. We are sure that will be the case for Tim.”
