Really Michael?
Israel Folau could find himself in all kinds of trouble after this nasty ‘tackle’ on Springbok winger Dillyn Leyds. The Wallaby fullback clearly pulls Leyds down by the hair, but Michael Cheika denies it ever happened.
On the day referee Ben O’Keeffe only awarded a penalty, but upon further review, we can surely expect a sanction for Folau as that kind of tackle is completely unacceptable.
When pressed about the incident by a reporter after the game, Cheika insists there was no foul play involved.
“He [Folau] grabbed the guy around the collar, you’ve got to watch the vision,” Cheika said.
“He gets penalised, ok, that’s a high tackle. He didn’t come in and grab him by the hair. Have you played rugby mate?”
“Have you ever tackled anyone by the hair? Exactly. Who tackles someone by the hair? Forget about it. It’s a non-issue.”
