Two Premiership heavyweights went toe-to-toe yesterday afternoon as Exeter hosted Wasps in a repeat of last year’s final, which the Chiefs won in extra time.

This time round however, there was no need for extra time as the Chiefs picked up a huge five-try, 31-17 win over Dai Young’s men to send them back to the top of the Premiership after four rounds.

One moment from the game that has everyone talking, is the incredible act of sportsmanship shown by Wasps’ Nathan Hughes when Exeter star Rob Simmonds was injured his trying to tackle him.

The 22-year-old back-row lay prone after being flattened by Hughes, but rather than play on, the Wasps man stopped to comfort Simmonds and alert referee JP Doyle that was in distress.

There was a five minute hold-up before Simmonds was stretchered off with an oxygen bottle on his face but with movement in his arms. The no.8 recovered to watch the closing stages from the dug-out. Absolute top class from Hughes, who made sure he got the attention he needed as soon as possible.
