Reinforcements.
Matt O’Connor has added some depth to his Leicester backline with the signing of Tonga international Atieli ‘Afa’ Pakalani. The 25-year-old Pakalani can play at fullback and wing, and has previously lined out for the Waratahs in Super Rugby.
A former captain of Tonga Under-20s and a member of Australia’s Sevens programme during 2014, Pakalani won his first Test caps with Tonga against Pacific rivals Fiji and Samoa in the summer of 2017.
Tigers have also added to their front-row with the signing of Scottish duo Kyle Traynor and Jake Kerr. Loosehead prop Traynor and hooker Kerr worked with the Tigers squad during pre-season, racking up some minutes with the Premiership side.
31 year-old Traynor has 12 caps for Scotland after making his debut in 2009. He moved from Edinburgh to Bristol ahead of the 2012/13 season and was part of their Premiership squad last season. Kerr is a former Scotland Under-20s hooker and bagged a try against the Ospreys in the Tigers’ first pre-season game in August.
