Liam Williams On His Bow Legs & Why He Can’t Get Them Fixed

Not worth the risk.

Liam Williams is quickly becoming one of the best backs in northern hemisphere rugby after some scintillating displays at fullback for the Lions this summer.

The Welshman was directly responsible for one of the all-time great Lions Test tries, thanks to an incredible run that eventually say Sean O’Brien dot down in the 1st Test. After an incredible tour, he’s not getting ready for the next step in his career, after moving to Saracens.

Ahead of the new season, he sat down with the Daily Mail in a wide-ranging interview. One of interesting subject matters that came up was his bow legs. It’s a well-know fact about Williams and contributes to his distinctive running style.

The condition means his knees stay wide apart when he stands with his feet and ankles together. It turns out he’s had the condition looked at, but didn’t want to take the risk of getting them fixed, as doctors told him he may not play again if he got the procedure.

“I’ve been getting stick about my bow legs. I had them looked at and they said they’d need to snap them to put them straight but I might never play again. I said, ‘No thanks!'”
