Leinster are sweating on the fitness of three of their top Irish internationals ahead of this weekend’s PRO12 semi-final clash with Scarlets.
The eastern province have injury concerns over Sean Cronin and, to a lesser extent, Lions Robbie Henshaw and Sean O’Brien.
O’Brien has been complaining of a tight hamstring and will return to full training this week as will Robbie Henshaw who has been suffering with a rib issue. Cronin however, has a neck problem and looks much less likely than the other two to make it in time, due to the game falling on a Friday.
“It’s not severe, but it has kept him out of training for the last few days.” Stuart Lancaster said.
“He’s a doubt for the weekend because it’s a Friday night game and it’s Monday now. He’s going to need to be training today and Wednesday to really push for selection. So he’s less likely.”
O’Brien and Henshaw will both train today and Lancaster is confident both will be passed fit.
“Sean O’Brien and Robbie will train today. It will be a case of making that decision after today’s training. We’ve tomorrow off and then back training on Wednesday. We’ll need to nail it down by close of play today.”
“Robbie took a full part on Thursday and Friday last week, he didn’t take any contact with the rib injury. He’s a pretty tough guy and we’re optimistic on him.”
Leinster take on Scarlets this Friday at the RDS with a 7.45pm kick-off.
