Joey Carbery has been named Guinness PRO12 Young Player of the Season.
The Leinster star has enjoyed a phenomenal breakout year which saw him called up to Joe Schmidt’s Ireland squad in November, coming off the bench in the New Zealand, before overcoming an injury to play an integral part of his province’s season.
This time last year Carbery was playing for Clontarf in the AIL, which proves just how remarkable his rise has been. Leinster finished second in the PRO12, and now look forward to a home semi-final against Scarlets, with Carbery’s performances helping them get there.
The young playmaker has slotted in comfortably at both fullback or outhalf and at just 21 years of age- has an extremely bright future ahead of him.
