Look away now Northampton fans.
It was reported earlier this week Northampton Saints number eight Louis Picamoles is set to return to France on a central contract with the FFR to join Montpellier. Picamoles has two years left on his contract with Northampton but Montpellier owner Mohad Altrad is said to be working on a deal to bring him back to France.
Northampton Saints boss Jim Mallinder insisted this weekend that Louis Picamoles will not be leaving the club this summer, but it seems Picamoles has already made up his mind and will return to France in the summer.
The Rugby Paper are reporting that Picamoles has already made his intentions clear to the Premiership side and wants to return to France with Montpellier. The number eight has two years left to run on his £500,000 a year contract, meaning Northampton could demand a £1m transfer should they be left with no choice but to allow him to leave.
A huge blow for Northampton, but the deal does make a lot of sense for Picamoles.
