Wasps star Jimmy Gopperth returns to Dublin this weekend to take on his old side Leinster.
The talented playmaker spent two-years at the province filling in for the departed Johnny Sexton and while it wasn’t Leinster’s most successful period, Gopperth is fondly remembered.
A move to Wasps coincided with Sexton’s return, where Gopperth has once again excelled and showed his worth whether it be at 10 or alongside Danny Cipriani at inside centre.
Gopperth however says the Premiership is different ball game to the PRO12.
“The Premiership on the whole is a lot stronger than the Pro12,” says the 33-year-old former Leinster star.
“Week-in, week-out it’s like Leinster v Munster every single week over here.
“There’s no let up. Even the bottom teams give you a run for your money. It’s a lot more attritional here, the English union don’t have control of the players.
It’s a very good competition and it’s just getting stronger and stronger. The skill level is getting a lot better because a lot of teams have outstanding pitches.”
It’s Premiership vs PRO12 this weekend at the Aviva. Who comes out on top is anyone’s guess.
