What a load of balls.
77 minutes played and your leading England by just four points. You only find out on Thursday your on the bench and you come into the fold to try and close the game out.
Do you play it safe and keep passing to your forward pods? Not if you’re Luke McGrath. The Leinster scrumhalf put in one of the most perfectly weighted kicks we’ve ever seen on Saturday in the closing stages at the Aviva that deserves serious praise.
Just ask Joe Schmidt, who had this to say.
“Luke McGrath was selected late on Thursday after we decided Conor was too big a risk.
“I thought his kick into the corner was unbelievably good. It was not just tactically sound but huge courage-wise, and then technically to get that close to the corner was was spot on.
“We just have to keep investing and sowing confidence in these [young players].”
Have another look below. Sublime.
