The sensible season.
It looks like World Rugby isn’t going to get a global rugby calendar, but it will get an alternate ‘sensible season’ according to the NZ Herald.
World Rugby executives meet in Europe this week and are understood to have all but reached agreement that from 2020- the June international window will be shifted to July.
This may not be as significant a change as we expected, but is a huge step forward that will benefit most parties. The Six Nations however may need to be altered with the tournament potentially set to be reduced to six weeks.
The most notable advantage of switching the internationals to July will be the ability to run Super Rugby in one block without having to take a break to play tests.
