Pat Lam may be bringing a bit of Ireland with him to Bristol next season.
The current Connacht head coach is set to take over at the English outfit at the end of the season, but is already playing a heavy hand in the recruitment process having brought in Steven Luatua on a £650,000 deal.
The Premiership strugglers are now believed to have overtaken Northampton in the race to sign Ireland playmaker Ian Madigan, who is set to leave French outfit Bordeaux-Begles at the end of the season.
The Rugby Paper are reporting that Bristol have trumped the Saints £500,000 offer and are ‘now in pole position to do a deal.’
Madigan must now secure his early release from Bordeaux if a deal is to be completed.
