Saracens are closing in on a new signing in the second-row department.
English Premiership champions Saracens are said to be close to finalising a deal for Welsh lock Dominic Day according to The Rugby Paper. The 31 year-old lock is currently playing his rugby in Australia with Super Rugby franchise the Melbourne Rebels.
The former Scarlets man, who played for Wales in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, is no stranger to the Premiership having spent four years with Bath. He left the English side at the end of last season to sign with the Rebels and spent a stint in Japan during the summer.
He’s yet to make his Rebels debut, which has been put on hold as he recovers from a shoulder injury. He’s on track to be available for round two, but his stint down under might be short-lived with Saracens looking to bring reinforcements into their second-row department.
Should the European champions complete a deal for the Welshman, they will end all interest in Exeter lock Geoff Parling.
