Ever wondered why Owen Farrell makes the symbol above when he celebrates?
The Saracens and England star has developed into one of the finest backs in the northern hemisphere over the last few years, and when he celebrates a try, he makes a special symbol that sees him link the index finger of each hand.
The symbol is a tribute to his biggest fan, Jack Johnson Jack, aged six and a huge rugby fan, suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a debilitating muscle-wasting disorder which leaves him unable to walk. As Jack gets older his condition will worsen and worsen – and there is no cure.
Farrell heard about Jack because his father Andy used to play with Jack’s dad at Wigan. The talented playmaker was touched and decided to begin dedicating every point he scored to raising awareness about Jack and DMD.
The Johnson family said: “Everyone at Joining Jack is so grateful for Owen’s support, he is a fantastic ambassador for the charity and never forgets to help raise awareness whenever he can.”
