Tadhg Furlong is a doubt for Ireland’s second Six Nations game against Italy after sitting out training at Carton House yesterday.
The Wexford native has been in terrific form since bursting on the scene back in November, and was arguably Ireland’s best player on the pitch in their disappointing defeat at the hands of Scotland.
Furlong received treatment on Saturday and left the field with 20 minutes to go.
Team manager Paul Dean yesterday said he had a bruised shoulder but added that the plan was for the Wexford native to train. However, when the session began Furlong was confined to the sidelines and his availability to play will depend on his ability to train today.
Peter O’Mahony and Johnny Sexton are not ruled out as of yet, but the likelihood of either being fit is slim. Andrew Trimble however, is back in full training and will likely feature against the Italians.
