Simon Zebo has been on fire this year.
The Munster back is playing with a spring in his step, and seemingly has no fear this season. His game has come on leaps and bounds and his province have benefitted greatly from his daring style of play.
Zebo is not afraid to think outside the box and make the risky calls, that so far have come off in spectacular fashion this season. What has changed since last season though is the question, and according to Zebo it’s the arrival of two men- Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber.
Munster Rugby has completely transformed itself this season and Zebo says the South African duo deserve all the credit.
“They’ve been massive. They’ve probably influenced me most I’d say in such a short space of time,” said Zebo in The Irish Times.
“They haven’t pushed anything. They’ve given me a different kind of, I don’t know, confidence or something, not that I needed it.
“Like if you make a mistake ‘no problem’. I probably haven’t heard that too much in my career, when I was coming up. I don’t know whether it’s where they are from. They’ve just been excellent in allowing me to play with no fear whatsoever.
“We’re on a good run of games with Munster and I think a lot of that is down to those two lads, especially taking us on from where they had to and, yeah, they’ve had a pretty big impact on me as a person and a player.”
Zebo starts on the wing for Ireland on Saturday against Scotland, and no doubt Irish fans will be hoping he can pick up where he left off last month.
