Jamison Gibson-Park had a lot of people scratching their heads today when he kicked the ball out of play with Leinster only drawing the game.
The Irish province needed a win before tonight’s proceedings to guarantee a home quarter final, but thanks to tonight’s results, they basically have it in the bag. The only team that can stop them? Connacht.
Montpellier’s win tonight over Northampton brings them into the qualification spots as things stand. Munster, Clermont and Saracens can still overtake Leinster, but as we know, fourth spot still means a home quarter final.
Pat Lam’s side travel to Toulouse on Sunday, knowing a win will guarantee them a quarter final spot, but there’s actually a slight outside chance they could even end up with a home quarter final. If the western province get a bonus-point win and overtake Leinster on points difference (50+) they will overtake their Irish rivals.
Leo Cullen clearly must have passed on the message. Can Connacht upset Leinster? Never say never.
