Paul O’Connell and Ronan O’Gara and both set for punditry duties during the Six Nations this year, but there’s one big problem.

The former Ireland and Lions lock will be across the pond as part of the BBC panel, while O’Gara will be joining Hook, Pope and the lads on RTE, for their final ever Six Nations, with TV3 set to take over next year.

It leaves Ireland fans torn as to what channel they will watch the Six Nations on, with both players holding a special place in the hearts of Irish fans, and both being damn good pundits to boot.

In a press release sent out today, O’Connell said the Six Nations is special to him, and although it will be strange not being out there, he looks forward to the new experience.

“The Six Nations is a tournament incredibly close to my heart and I’m delighted to be joining the BBC team.

“It’s a very different experience now watching on from the side-lines but I’m really looking forward to drawing on my own experiences to give the audience as much insight as I can into the action on the pitch.”
