Rassie Erasmus has confirmed Munster are in talks to sign James Hart and Chris Farrell from the Top 14.
Centre Farrell is currently playing his rugby with Bernard Jackman’s Grenoble and has been long linked with the province. Hart is a former teammate of Farrell’s at Grenoble, having spend four seasons there before joining Racing 92 this season.
Erasmus has been busy in the transfer market every since his arrival at Munster with player’s like Jean Kleyn, Rhys Marshall, Jaco Taute and Sam Arnold all coming in this season. The South African’s recruitment thus far has been hugely impressive, with a number of new players standing out.
The Southern province are also said to be in advanced talks with JJ Hanrahan about a move home. To see Munster’s Director of Rugby look to lure Irish talent home, rather than sign foreign players is hugely refreshing, and sure to delight the IRFU.
Erasmus was speaking Munster’s University of Limerick training base yesterday and had this to say about deals for Hart and Farrell.
“We are talking to a few Irish-qualified guys. Those two we did talk to and we are busy with some of them, and even another two guys.
“But sometimes for a player on that side, just by speculating before anything is done, dusted and definite, sometimes it can ruin a guy’s opportunities there.
“Definitely not finalised and the moment we get done, or if gets done, we will make an announcement on Chris and on James.”
Who do you think are the other two players Erasmus is talking about?
