Bundee Aki had sone good news for Connacht fans this morning when he stated he was ready to get stuck in and focused despite Pat Lam’s impending departure.
Lam revealed this month that he was leaving for Bristol at the end of the season and Aki was far from happy, tweeting his displeasure immediately following the announcement. Aki’s anger worried a lot of people, but he admitted he is over it now and fully committed to Connacht.
Just as that good news broke, Connacht have now been dealt with a killer blow. Aki must undergo surgery to correct an ongoing ankle issue and will be out for a least six weeks. Connacht are hopeful he will be back in action mid February.
The injury comes as a massive blow to the western province as Aki has been in fine form. He will now miss the busy festive period, as well as Connacht’s Champions Cup pool stage games in January.
Rory Parata and Danie Poolman will form a new midfield partnership for Friday’s league game at Kingspan Stadium.
