Lions head coach Warren Gatland has named his British & Irish Lions coaching team.
Gatland will take over the Lions for the second successive tour following his side’s series win over Australia in 2013. The Kiwi however faces much tougher opposition this time round in the shape of world champions, New Zealand.
Gregor Townsend turned down a role this week as he stated he wants to focus on his new job with Scotland next summer and go with them on tour to Australia. As a result of this Gatland has named his Welsh interim Rob Howley for the 2017 tour.
Howley is to be joined by Ireland’s Andy Farrell and England’s Steve Borthwick who will reportedly take up roles as defence coach and forwards coach respectively. Gatland also stated this week that he may not name his full team today, and that there may be additions following today’s announcement.
What do you think of his selection? The right men for the job.
